We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise whereby a student may need to re-schedule or cancel a Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course/ theory online package, lesson or road test. In this circumstance, our cancellation and refund policy is as follows:
To cancel a BDE in-vehicle lesson, call your instructor directly or call our Head Office at (613) 843-0010 at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. If you cancel or reschedule your lesson within less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson and/or fail to attend your lesson, a fee may apply as outlined below:
In addition, if a student does not, at the time of their lesson, have their original learner’s permit (photocopies are not permitted) or their eye-glasses/contacts (where required), the lesson will be cancelled, and a cancellation fee of fifty ($50.00) dollars per hour will apply; prices are subject to change without notice.
To cancel a non-BDE in-vehicle lesson (commercial lesson), call your instructor directly or call our Head Office at (613) 843-0010 at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. If you cancel or reschedule within less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson and/or fail to attend your lesson, a fee may apply or your lesson may be forfeited as outlined below:

D.T.S.M. reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel any in-vehicle lesson due to illness, personal emergency, weather or road conditions, mechanical vehicle issues, or a road test delay at the DriveTest Centre. Should D.T.S.M. need to cancel an in-vehicle lesson, your driving instructor or the D.T.S.M. office staff will contact you directly. You will not be charged a fee.
Should the student cancel their road test or D.T.S.M. withdraws the instructor’s vehicle on the day of the road test (D.T.S.M. reserves the right in its sole discretion to withdraw a vehicle at any time), or DriveTest cancels the student’s test, D.T.S.M. is not responsible for any losses associated with the cancellation. In addition, a re-attempt road test fee may apply and be charged to the student by DriveTest. Review DriveTest’s refund policy. If students rebook their road test with their in-vehicle instructor and use a D.T.S.M. vehicle for the rescheduled road test, they will be required to pay a re-attempt road test fee to D.T.S.M.
All fees involved with obtaining an Ontario Class G1, G2, and G driver’s license, are not included in D.T.S.M. packages/services, are at your own expense and are payable to the DriveTest Centre.
In order to receive your Beginner Driver Education Program Certification, you must complete the full program within one year less a day (364 days). This includes:
Once D.T.S.M. has issued an enrollment email containing the student’s enrollment key, there will be an automatic $150.00 plus HST non-refundable cost to the student’s program. When the student’s enrollment key has been activated for the online program and/or the initial program payment (full or half payment) has been processed, the 364-day deadline begins. Additionally, once the student’s enrollment key has been activated for the online program, 50% of the student’s total program cost is non-refundable. Once a student has activated their enrollment key for the online program and in-vehicle training has commenced, all monies paid will be non-refundable (the student’s total program cost). If a student fails to complete all theory, homework and in-vehicle lessons by the 364-day deadline, the remaining service commitments by D.T.S.M. will be forfeited. Students will no longer be eligible for certification with the MTO, and they will need to retake the entire program, payable at full cost. D.T.S.M.'s service commitment for all program purchases is only valid for a period of a year less a day (364 days) from the date of purchase. Once a program purchase has expired (elapsed 364 days), all service commitments by D.T.S.M. are null and void and will be forfeited and non-refundable, requiring the repurchasing of a new program at cost.
As per MTO regulations, all students must start their digital online program before any in-vehicle training can commence. Failure to abide by the following MTO regulations will result in a forfeiture of your certification with the MTO and will require you to repurchase a new program at cost.
In the event that you fail to achieve the minimum final score of 70% on the in-vehicle training, an additional charge of a one-hour evaluation lesson of $69.99 plus HST will apply. Prices are subject to change without notice.
Additionally, in the event that you fail the theory final exam, you will have two further attempts to pass at no additional cost. However, if you fail three times, there will be a charge for each additional attempt of $100.00 plus HST. Prices are subject to change without notice.
Once D.T.S.M. has issued an enrollment email for the "online driver education theory only package" containing the student’s enrollment key, there will be an automatic $150.00 plus HST non-refundable cost to the package. Furthermore, once the student’s enrollment key for the package has been activated, all monies paid are non-refundable.
